These are all but a few of our imports that are inconsistent with the overall health of a budding but progressive nation. Why are we fighting against the symptoms when the fight ought to be waged against the cause of all our health issues, point blank; our public policies to import more than 85% of Bahamas’s consumer products in contravention of establishing and sustaining better quality grown local products?
The effect of our misguided political ideologies has taken quite a toll on Bahamas’s failing health care, economy and inner communities. With the proliferation of fast food franchises in resent decades, one is ever present to the dangers of over indulgence and the lack of respect for moderation; where but a glance in the wrong direction, even the slightest aroma of fried meat can mean devastating consequences for unsuspecting patrons.
Whether or not who has the better answers is irrelevant at this juncture, although the public demand for full disclosure, one question remains to this day unsatisfactorily unanswered; what, if any, are the long term affect of genetically enhanced imported food product on the overall health of the average Bahamian family.
